The Coconino Health Department has confirmed that two more foxes found in Flagstaff have tested positive for rabies. The number of cases of rabies recorded since November has risen to 23, including 16 foxes, six skunks and one ring-tailed cat. A three-month pet quarantine is in place in the City of Flagstaff.
There are no known cases of human exposure in Coconino County.
Six cases of rabies have been reported in Yavapai County including seven bats, two foxes and two bobcats, one which terrorized Cottonwood residents. Three human victims were treated for rabies after that incident.
Yavapai County Health department recorded 11 cases during last year. The Yavapai department reminds residents to keep their animals current on their rabies vaccine.
