With an Aug. 1 deadline to make changes in applications to the State Board for Charter Schools, the Camp Verde Unified School District governing board has planned a special meeting Tuesday, July 29.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the district office.
The school district submitted applications, with no commitment, for three possible charters. One was to make South Verde High School a charter, another for a dual language charter within the elementary, and the third for an "inquiry-based" or World School at a specialty school. The state Charter Board requested more information on curriculum samples, organizational members, etc.
The board will also discuss the Charter Corporate Board appointments after an explanation of a background check requirement.
Also on the agenda is the district's music program. The district has been researching the possibility of making the music program for middle school and highs school an after-school program utilizing local talent. The district has received a proposal from Performing Arts Studios to provide that service.
The proposal is to create a program not just for music but also dance and drama. Classes would be 45 minutes Monday through Thursday for 16 weeks. The proposed cost per student is $30 for registration and $20 per month.
The Elementary School music program would still be in the hands of Jirair Baghdassarian.
On the consent agenda are several personnel shifts. New hires include Rainee Armstrong as a part-time parapfrofessional; Kimberly Stone as high school attendance secretary; Lisa Zamora as high school secretary; Patricia Hermosillo as a bus driver; and Judy Galvan as a substitute and Chris Hancock as substitute bus driver. Resignations include Debra Roeller and Greg Roeller as Special Ed paraprofessionals and Melissa Bradley as elementary school paraprofessional.
The long list of transfers include Mark Ware moving from custodian to computer technician; Doree Mathews and Vivian Flores moving from part-time aides to full-time aides; Lori Hicks moving from third, fourth and fifth grade ELL to second and third grade ELL; Tress Wagner from second grade teacher to first and second grade ELL; Salvador Becerra from substitute driver to route driver; and Hancock from part-time bus-driver to part-time computer tech.
