10/15/2013 2:06:00 PM Camp Verde Council to discuss roundabout at 260 junction
CAMP VERDE - At Wednesday's regular session, the Camp Verde Town Council will discuss and possibly approve Resolution 2013-899, an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Arizona Department of Transportation for the design and construction of a roundabout at State Route 260 and Industrial Drive in Camp Verde, near the Burger King and McDonald's restaurants.
According to Ron Long, Public Works Director for the Town of Camp Verde, the roundabout will be able to handle truck traffic and will improve the traffic flow at that intersection.
"The current intersection at SR 260 doesn't work," Long said. "All one needs to do is go down to that intersection around lunch time, park, and watch all the illegal turns and near collisions to see why this project is necessary. It is really a dangerous situation."
The Town would be required to pay $450,000 of the project's expected costs, with $424,350 allocated from the 2015 Transportation Improvement Plan managed by NACOG and $25,650 total estimated Town funds to be budgeted from the fiscal year 2014-2015 Capital Improvements Plan (CIP). In fiscal year 2015, the State of Arizona would provide $2,174,350 in federal aid funding for the project.
Wednesday's regular session will be held at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 473 S Main St. Room 106. The agenda can be seen online at: http://www.campverde.az.gov/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/10-16-2013-Regular.pdf.
