CORNVILLE -- Musicians and friends will gather in Cornville Sunday to benefit one of the "musical family." There will be great music and plenty of food, prizes and fun.
Becky Wilson of Cornville was celebrating her birthday Oct. 25, horseback riding with close friends. Suddenly, her horse spooked and Becky took a fall. She broke a rib and her back was broken in several places.
Becky doesn't know how long she will continue to live in the full-back brace, but it will likely be a long struggle. And it is unclear when Becky will be able to work again full-time.
She earns her living as a bartender and has no medical insurance.
Randy Hanna of the Neon Raiders says Becky has been an important volunteer for past benefits for musicians who have been injured or died, with no medical insurance to cover expenses. Events have benefited "Grateful Fred" Jablonski, Brian Sinclair, Bert Springer and Danny Rhodes. Friends and rock stars have always gathered to help them out.
Now the Old Corral Bar in Cornville will host a benefit to get Becky through.
On tap is a barbeque, raffle, live auction, 50-50 drawing, horseshoes and live music as part of the fund raising. A potluck will accompany the barbeque. It's not required, but anyone wishing to bring a favorite dish is encouraged to do so.
Many will come for the music. The Neon Raiders and the Retros will play, along with other top musicians.
The benefit starts at 1:00 p.m. with music and dancing from 2:00 p.m. through 7 p.m.
Donations of items for the auction, should be brought to the Old Corral nor later than Saturday Nov. 14 or brought with you to the event Sunday afternoon. To have auction items picked up, call The Old Corral at 649-9495, Randy Hanna at 928-300-4279, or Gaye Holt at 634-4024.
